Tool & Die Maker Associate

Reports To: Tool Room Supervisor/Tool Room Manager

Job Summary: The Tool & Die Maker Associate will construct, repair, and maintain shop tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs, and dies based on blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions. Responsibilities include adhering to safety protocols, following quality standards, and completing tasks efficiently within the plant environment.

Job Duties:
  • Ensure proper lockout procedures are followed during equipment repairs.
  • Construct new dies and tooling from provided specifications.
  • Repair dies and tools used in production, testing them for proper operation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of materials, heat treating, and basic welding.
  • Operate various machine tools for cutting, milling, and grinding.
  • Verify conformance of completed dies to specifications.
  • Utilize and maintain all tool room equipment effectively.
  • Adapt to new systems introduced within the company or department.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship.
  • Keep Toolroom Manager/Supervisor/Leadhand informed of any safety incidents or concerns.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment.
  • Actively listen to knowledge passed on by previous shifts for effective problem-solving.
  • Follow protocols and guidelines during pandemics such as COVID-19.
Requirements:
  • College degree in a related field (Tool & Die Making)
  • Proficiency in crane operations
  • Valid Forklift License or ability to be certified in-house
Work Conditions:
  • Exposure to trade-related hazards and loud noise
  • Physical requirements include manual dexterity, prolonged standing, and lifting up to 30 lbs
  • May be exposed to hot/cold temperatures and required to work overtime
  • Some travel may be necessary
