Description:

St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Patient Access Rep to join our Patient Access team!

Shift:

.5 FTE. 20hrs/wk. Every Monday and Friday 11a-730p and every other Sat/Sun 7a-330p. Per department needs.

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Registration Supervisor, and Team Lead, the Patient Facing Registrar greets patients and visitors upon arrival with professionalism while identifying and responding to their needs and communicating all urgencies to the clinical staff.

The PAR I performs outpatient, emergency room and / or inpatient registration functions. Provides general information to hospital colleagues, patients and families and ensures that patients meet financial requirements. Obtains accurate patient demographic and insurance information to provide timely submission of all encounters as well as provides excellent patient focused customer service. Communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service.

* Verifies insurance benefits and checks for the necessity of pre-certification, authorization and referral.

* Performs medical necessity checks where needed.

* Secures patient signatures for required hospital forms and collection of patient's financial responsibility when required.

* Is responsible for providing professional, quality customer service, timely resolution to customer problems, and coordination of services to all customers.

* Functions to communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients, physicians, physician office staff and other hospital colleagues.

* Rotates into various areas of Patient Access and may work a variety of shifts.

Requirements:

* HS diploma or equivalency (Required)

* Associate degree (Preferred)

* Minimum one (1) year experience in insurance verification and customer service (Required)
