**Weekend Catering Supervisor ( 15 hours per week)**

An opportunity has arisen for a Weekend Catering Supervisor to join our professional Catering Team within the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading.

We are looking for a person to work in all areas of our Restaurants, who is skilled dedicated and motivated and who has the desire to assist in consistently delivering the highest quality of service to our customers.

The successful candidate should have previous supervisory experience within a large scale catering environment, an awareness of relevant legislation and regulations, formal qualifications relevant to the food industry, a current Food Hygiene Certificate and good organisational and communication skills necessary to perform the role safely and effectively.

As the Catering Supervisor, you will be leading and driving the team to complete their given tasks. The Supervisor inspires and encourages team development as well as where we can bring new talent to the team

**Main duties of the job**

Duties include:

* Manage small team of staff and day to day workflow within the team.

* Assist with stock taking.

* To establish and maintain the highest standards of hygiene in accordance with Health & Safety.

* Adhere to Trust policies and ensure that these are fully communicated to all team members.

* Serving customers in a polite and friendly manner and confidence in dealing with members of the public face to face.

* Cash handling, till work & cashing up.

* Organise cover for absence and busy periods by utilising the team.

* Build good relations with other departments.

* Leading your team to ensure employee, management and the Trusts needs are met.

* Monitoring the quality of the food and service.

* Managing and training your team.

* Ensuring all legal and Trust paperwork is completed on time.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**

To work as part of the Catering Team in producing approximately 1600 patient meals and the serving of 700 customers in the restaurant per day.

To supervise the serving of meals to high standards whilst maintain a clean, tidy and safe department. Ensuring the standard of service is pleasant, efficient and all duties are carried out in line with the departments working procedures.

**Education/Qualifications**

**Essential criteria**

* Evidence of adequate level of education

* Demonstrate adequate level of literacy and numeracy skills

* Evidence of adequate level of Information Technology including Microsoft Office & Web page updating

* Evidence of willingness to undertake training and development

**Desirable criteria**

* NVQ level 2 in Food Service for the catering Industry or City & Guilds equivalent or a supervisory qualification

**Experience**

**Essential criteria**

* 2 Years experience of working in the catering trade within a supervisory level

* Experience within the hospitality & restaurant industry

**Desirable criteria**

* Relevant experience of working in a similar type of establishment
