Job Title: Safety and environment specialist
Location: Marion, IL
Duration: Full time with Benefits
Pay range: $65-$85K/year + a 10% bonus based on company production.

Position Summary:
- The SHES Advisor (Safety Health and Environmental) will drive a continuous improvement approach to assuring compliance with workplace health, safety, environment, and industry standards, and reducing the risk of major incidents occurring at our Marion, IL manufacturing location.
- The SHES Advisor will work with the regional safety team to manage the core functions, including workplace health & safety, major incident risk, security & response, and environment & sustainability in accordance with SHES Management System, group, and statutory requirements
Key Accountabilities:
- Participate in continuous improvement processes and problem-solving activities within the Manufacturing Site or Sub-Regional Area.
- Ensure accuracy of information and delivery in agreed timeframes.
- Participate in Manufacturing site or Sub-Regional Area and company projects as required.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of SHES management systems.
- Participate and support SHES assurance activities.
- Assist in event investigations.
- Support the development of a SHES risk profile.
- Implement initiatives to mitigate and prevent SHES risk.
- Any other activities deemed appropriate by the Manufacturing site, Sub-Regional Area, or Group.
- Support a work environment that encourages individuals to be self-motivated.
- Possess understanding of local/regional regulations and company policies
- Measure site performance against published requirements in SHES policies
- Develop corrective action plans
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Effectively lead SHES training and presentations including new employee orientation and external contractor safety inductions
- Manages and documents the interface with regulatory authorities, both verbal and written, including SHARPS certification.
Skills:
- Engineering or science degree in a related field, or an endorsement by the Regional Senior Manager SHES based on pertinent prior experience.
