Children's Home Society, in Sioux Falls, SD is currently seeking a Full Time Senior Staff Accountant to provide support for all Children's Home Society and Children's Home Foundation accounting functions including financial statements, grant administration, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, cash receipts, investments, donations, and general ledger journal entries for month-end closings.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and addressing any audit inquiries related to balance sheet accounts and reconciliations.
  • Manage the financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, reporting, invoicing, and compliance.
  • Perform reconciliations for intercompany transactions and accounts, ensuring proper eliminations and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and identifying any discrepancies or errors.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and recording of financial transactions.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including recording acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation entries.
  • Prepare and review accruals and prepayment schedules, ensuring accurate recording of expenses and revenues in the appropriate accounting period.
  • Perform monthly bank and investment reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or outstanding items.

Compensation: $52,000-$65,000 (Depending on Education and Experience)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum two years accounting experience.
  • Must be competent in utilization of Microsoft Office products, with emphasis on Excel.
