Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Status: Nonexempt

VGS is a highly acclaimed, successful, private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) vocational rehabilitation agency with over 130 years of dedicated experience serving persons with disabilities or other barriers to employment.

We are currently seeking a Development Specialist to complete the following duties in order to be successful in the position and be able to contribute to the success of the agency.

Gift Processing

  • Accurately process all donations in Raiser's Edge
  • Accurately documents all donations for reconciliation with Finance Department
  • Create all gift acknowledgements and other gift correspondence in a timely manner and following the VGS Development Department's Standard Operating Procedures

Donor Database Management
  • Record and update all information on donors and supporters in Raiser's Edge
  • Pull queries and data accurately from the database, including for mailings, stewardship, historical data, and reporting purposes
  • Perform database maintenance as needed

Fund Development
  • Conduct research on current and prospective funders - foundations, corporations, and individual donors
  • Create reports, as requested by President and CEO or Director of Development on funders
  • With the Director of Development, develop an individual donor outreach calendar
  • Schedule meetings for the President and CEO and current or prospective funders
  • Track communications, meetings, and all appropriate notes in Raiser's Edge
  • With Director of Development, manage Grants Calendar
  • Track submission and report dates
  • Assist with collating and submitting grant proposal

Administrative
  • Manage and execute all mailings, both in house and using mail services
  • Take notes for Development Committee and Engagement and Outreach Committee Meetings


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Three years of relevant professional experience
  • Commitment to the VGS mission
  • Commitment to disability, gender, and racial equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; grammatical acumen
  • Unparalleled attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Google platforms
  • Experience in managing online content, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter
  • Fundraising planning and execution experience; proven project management skills
  • Self-motivated, team player, and enthusiastic
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of individuals
