Program Statement: Matt Talbot is a residential substance use treatment program for adult men who are struggling with addiction and may have a co-occurring mental health condition. This program is located in Parma, Ohio.

Responsibilities:

  • Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
  • Establish departmental procedures and oversee implementation of same.*
  • Determine required staffing patterns and schedule employees according to menu and special events and staff qualifications.*
  • Ensure menus are approved by a licensed dietitian to plan menus which comply with state licensing requirements.
  • Implement and maintain a system of ordering food and supplies as well as inventory control.*
  • Plan and implement sanitation standards that are professionally sound and meet Health department regulations.*
  • Plan, organize and execute food services participation in special events for clients, staff, and community groups.*
  • Gather information about client eating preferences to assist in the development of six (6) week cycle menus.
  • Recommend staff qualifications, interview perspective staff and evaluate staff performance. Recommend disciplinary actions for staff as necessary. *
  • Copy and distribute dietary forms; menus, temperature forms, etc.
  • File, type and answer phone.
  • Verify invoices for correct prices.
  • Maintain effective intradepartmental communication with employees and develop/implement staff training as needed to ensure efficient functioning of the dietary department.*
  • Set standards and procedures for food preparation including but not limited to standardized recipes, production records, distribution records, etc.
  • Collect information and prepare reports for licensing funding and accrediting bodies as needed.
  • Oversee proper function, use and maintenance of kitchen supplies and equipment including recommendations and specifications for new and replacement supplies and equipment.*
  • Provide overall supervision and direction of all dietary personnel in the completion of job requirements.*
  • Supervise daily food production and preparation of meals.
  • Ensure the dietary department functions within the established budget. Participate in the development and monitoring of the budget.


Requirements:

  • Combination of education and experience normally represented by Bachelor's degree in Food Service or related field plus technical or specialized skills normally associated with a training program and/or certification in food service.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Three to five years related work experience.
  • One to three years supervisory/management experience.
  • Knowledge of USDA requirements.
  • Prior experience in long-term food service environment, catering service preferred.
  • Must have Health Department sanitation certification.
  • Ability to perform simple mechanical tasks with common household appliances (oven, blender, etc.).
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License and are subject to a Moving Vehicle Report (MVR) check through the Department of Motor Vehicles annually. Any MVR grade of "unacceptable" is not permitted to operate a vehicle on behalf of Catholic Charities.
  • Must provide a copy of driver's license.
  • Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with diverse client population, community organizations as well as staff at all levels.
  • Good working knowledge of computers with familiarity of Microsoft Office.
  • Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
