Responsibilities:

Supervises and assists in the administration, direction, management and control of supplies and receiving activities for the hospitals, ambulatory and Mitchell Cancer Institute, to ensure that the needed supplies and equipment are on hand, prepared and delivered when needed; assists the supervisor in planning for departmental fiscal actions and in careful use of health system resources to include the preparation of annual budgets and completion of departmental productivity analysis; supervises staff to include assigning duties, checking work, approving time off, and handling disciplinary issues; assists in determining proper stock levels, re-order points and economic order quantities; ensures all supply requests are filled, delivered and accurately charged for in a timely manner; ensures a safe work environment is maintained in the department; assists in developing Quality Assurance Programs and monitors for compliance; makes adjustments, conversions factor changes and performs other duties via computer for the Material Management Information System as necessary; assists Manager with evaluations of performance of all subordinate personnel; prepares employee schedules; moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with hospital staff in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; maintains accurate and complete records by preparing reports on departmental activities for submission to the supervisor and Administration; reconciles invoices from Accounting with receiving records; solves problems and analyzes records, reports and data to accurately maintain inventory control; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organizations values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; assists with the orientation of new employees; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment and or supplies that are necessary to perform essential functions; reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or department head; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit; completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, four years of experience in healthcare supply distribution or related field, and possession of a valid drivers license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
