GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Attendants provide customer/patron service in the Department in which they serve through personal, telephone, or e-mail contact. This highly visible position will assist residents and patrons with program registrations, scheduling use of facilities, checking people into facilities, among other tasks. In addition, Attendants will monitor facility use to ensure that Township rules and regulations are being followed, while reporting infractions to the relevant Township staff.

SKILLS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Computer and Technology Skills:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint.

Ability to learn and develop proficiency with various software applications related to the Township website and payment for programs or services.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar and punctuation and ability to apply it correctly.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform simple arithmetic equations, calculate fees, and process payments.

Reasoning Abilities:

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations within the framework of Township rules and regulations.

Physical Abilities:

Constantly Incurred (More than 75% of time on job)

Ability to sit for extended periods. Ability to communicate orally. Ability to hear conversation. Able to perform repetitive finger movements using both hands.

Frequently Incurred (Between 25% - 75% of time on job)

Ability to move throughout facilities.

Occasionally Incurred (Less than 25% of time on job)

Ability to lift and carry loads estimated up to 25 lbs. Able to reach at high or low levels, bend and stoop. Ability to push/pull loaded carts along carpeted and hard floors.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to use various office equipment i.e., adding machine, copier, shredder, postage machine, personal computer, printer, etc.

Professional phone manner and the ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy and tact in receiving office calls.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Greets visitors and assists with their needs.

Answers phone calls and e-mails from patrons/residents requesting information or Township service in a timely and professional manner.

Coordinates information on programming, projects, or regulations between Township staff and patrons/residents.

Keep accurate program statistics for reporting usage.

Assist with program marketing and social media outreach.

Collects all fees for such items as permit fees, program fees, lien letters, ordinances, maps, calendars, etc., balances receipt and submits to the Department Head for deposit.

Provide backup support for other secretarial and administrative assistant positions to meet workload requirement or during leaves

Performs other essential duties as assigned or required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education:

High school diploma or general education degree.

Experience and Training:

At least one (1) year of experience in a general office setting, using computers and office automation software.

Clearances:

Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); and

Attendants working in the Library or Parks & Recreation Department must be able to obtain Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse); and

Attendants working in the Library or Parks & Recreation Department must be able to obtain Fingerprint based federal criminal history.

SUPERVISION FROM THE FOLLOWING:

This position typically receives supervision from a Department Head.

SUPERVISION TO THE FOLLOWING:

This position typically does not give supervision to others.

WORK Environment:

This position normally works in a normal office environment, but occasionally visits other buildings to attend programs and meetings, thus occasionally being exposed to outside weather conditions. While much of the work associated with this position occurs during normal business hours, this position also involves on a regular basis working evening and weekends.
