Job Details

The buyer will report to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for purchasing material, supplies or equipment for the business. Duties include negotiating deals with suppliers, researching possible item selections and taking inventory of current products. Verify the delivery of items into the warehouse including checking incoming shipments against records making sure items are correctly packed, unloaded and distributed. Also responsible for organizing inventory and maintaining quality control. Document outbound shipments and ensure orders are processed and completed correctly.

Responsibilities:

  • Process daily procurement requirements into purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items for any lead time issues
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and ownership of tasks by ensuring purchase orders are placed in a timely manner and are within the approved budget and analyzed for accuracy
  • Provide weekly purchase order report to Supervisor indicating packing slip number for all closed orders
  • Assist with PO/Invoice reconciliation; update delivery dates and PO values in Costpoint
  • Checks deliveries of material ordered, and shipments received, report damages to supervisor/suppliers
  • Assist in resolving problems due to delivery, quality and pricing in a timely manner
  • Responds to requests for purchasing data and status of material activities
  • Perform material staging, kitting, HAZMAT handling, and material distribution
  • Perform weekly cycle counts
  • Pack, seal and label materials/pallets for shipping
  • Maintain Shipping Logs & Purchase Request Logs
  • Organize & maintain a clean warehouse.
  • Performs simple, routine work; Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction; Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Any deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor/manager


Requirements

Skills and Abilities
  • Must have High school diploma, GED, or equivalent field work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum of 1-3 years' experience with Deltek Costpoint
  • Must be Eligible to work in the United States
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Proven ability to work in a warehouse/storeroom environment where occasional lifting of up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to work independently and as a group
  • Must be able to operate basic hand tools
  • Must be able to differentiate colors in order to identify/ repair fiber optic cables and copper cables.
  • Must be highly organized, detail orientated and able to multitask.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions provided in written or oral form
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and other co-workers in both one-on-one and small-group situations
  • Good communication skills, written and oral
  • Demonstrate ability to comprehend complex problems and formulate a solution with the full understanding of the solutions implications
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to have a pleasant, courteous, and professional appearance and approach in dealing with customers

This is an exempt position with pay starting at $62,400 annually depending on experience.
