Summary:

The Division of Educational Studies at Keuka College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach the adolescent integrated methods course - working with methods and materials for planning, instruction, and assessment in secondary-level content areas, specifically teaching Math, Social Studies, English, and Biology. This course introduces key theoretical and practical aspects of instruction, planning, and assessment of content, using the current content area standards. The instructor will be versed and experienced in constructivist model of teaching with learner-centered techniques that integrate the content areas, using engaging and inquiry-based, and meaningful learning activities at the appropriate developmental level of students. The instructor will be responsible for teaching a 4 credit course, as well as other duties such as office hours, course preparation, and student assessment. Experience in secondary-level instruction and graduate-level degree in education, or instructional design and curriculum is a required minimum. This position requires a commute to Keuka Park campus to teach a face-to-face course at an on-campus location.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Teach the adolescent methods course.
  • Work with division chair and faculty as needed to ensure effectiveness within the position.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary trainings and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated extensive experience with students at the secondary level.
  2. A graduate-level degree related to secondary-level education.
  3. Ability to teach multiple learners.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  5. Ability to provide writing skill support.
  6. Ability to use technology as a teaching tool.
  7. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  8. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to the needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff, and the public.
  9. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
