CUSTOM MANUFACTURING OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP ELKRIDGE, MD

Our client engineers and manufacture adaptable structures for trade shows and events. Two production lines. One involves fabrication custom manufacturing. The 2nd line is a wholesale white label manufacturing solution for complete exhibit fabrication that clients can either buy or rent.

You will have a team of approximately 35 individuals reporting to you Production Supervisor, Team Leads and Production Workers. Hands on leader in the trenches with the team.

Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing the entire manufacturing process personnel, inventory, equipment, facility, processes in a manner that supports the company s vision and growth strategy. The position monitors, evaluates and implements processes to establish structure which bring clarity and efficiency to roles while consistently adopting innovative ideas to advance company success.

Success Measures

Meeting production order margin targets, completion dates, and quality for both In-house and customer jobs (maintain a high safety standard and low employee turnover.

Introduction and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant efficiency.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Manage and oversee and the entire plant; ensure optimal use of equipment; maintaining high quality standards while continuously striving to improve processes through Continuous Improvement, Lean and Six Sigma principles.

Hire, motivate and discipline employees determined by need and according to policies outlined in the Employee Manual up to and including termination of employment.

Review daily orders with Production Supervisor and schedule overtime as necessary, being mindful of financial implications. Determine if added shifts are necessary.

Review system reports on job costing and address with production workers and Production Supervisor, as necessary.

Provide long-term planning and scheduling to evaluate capacity and needed resources looking out at weeks and months ahead. Also plan in the yearly budgeting process.

Develop and sustain training program to ensure the company has the right number of people at the right skill levels to meet client needs and future growth needs.

Continually strive to improve the workflow between sales/design/CAD teams and the plant to maximize productivity.

Set-up and monitor established guidelines for all In-house procedures including safety, time on jobs, quality control and cost.

Monitor and evaluate inventory levels as needed and assist with establishing minimums and re-order quantities. This also includes forecasting for busy periods and large orders.

Conduct regular meetings with staff members as necessary to inform, review and educate, as necessary.

Address facility needs and proper maintenance and care of company equipment.

Manage and treat all personnel in accordance with company handbook and local, state, and federal laws.

As a manager, behave in a professional, collaborative, positive and decisive manner and always have the overall company strategic goals as your guide to decisions and address areas of concern and growth within AND outside of your direct areas, as necessary.
