The Law Office of Rhett Burney, PC, is an exciting and progressive law firm located in the Upstate (Simpsonville) of South Carolina. We are seeking a talented and motivated Associate Attorney to join our team. We focus on providing comprehensive legal services in all areas of family law, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, adoption, and domestic violence cases. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a vital role in representing our clients, advocating for their best interests, and helping them navigate through challenging legal situations. We also provide service in civil, criminal, and estate matters. You will also get a lot of experience in the courtroom and mediation forum.


Responsibilities:


Think Outside the Box: We want to be the Ritz Carlton of Law Firms in the service we provide our clients. Whether it is the fresh hot cookies we serve clients at their appointments, our heavy use of technology, or our client concierge service, we want to give our clients a different experience during a difficult time. We want applicants to be forward thinkers and to have an entrepreneurial spirit.


Client Representation: Handle a caseload of family law matters from inception to resolution, including client consultations, legal research, drafting pleadings, negotiating settlements, mediation appearances, and representing clients in court proceedings.


Document Drafting: Be able to prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and settlement agreements, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to legal requirements. Our large team of incredible paralegals handle most of the drafting, but you must be able to review and make corrections as needed.


Court Appearances: Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and other court proceedings, presenting compelling arguments and advocating for their rights and interests.


Collaborative Approach: Work closely with our team of experienced attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to collaborate on cases, share insights, and provide the best possible legal solutions for our clients. We are a team. We either win together or lose together. We don t put up with drama between our employees. Our job is hard enough. Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on their cases, answer their questions, address concerns, and ensure they are informed and involved in the legal process.


Continuing Legal Education: Stay up-to-date with changes in family law legislation, court rulings, and legal trends through ongoing professional development and attending relevant seminars and conferences.


Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on various family law issues to provide informed advice and develop effective legal strategies for our clients.


Qualifications:

-Interesting personality

-Sense of humor

-Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

-Admission to the South Carolina Bar or ability to become admitted promptly.

-At least 2-4 years of experience practicing family law, with a strong understanding of South Carolina family law statutes, procedures, and case law. However, if you have less than than 2 years of experience, we are willing to train and mentor the right candidate.

-Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

-Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients.

-Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage a demanding caseload and meet deadlines.

-Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
