Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant/Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. Your expertise and skills will contribute to the overall well-being of the animals under our care.
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform various diagnostic tests and procedures under the supervision of a veterinarian
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures
- Collect and analyze laboratory samples
- Provide assistance with radiographs and other imaging procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records for each animal patient
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of animal physiology and veterinary medicine
- Proficient in veterinary critical care techniques
- Skilled in animal catheterization and venipuncture
- Excellent pet care skills, including handling and restraint techniques
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and ability to perform basic lab tests
- Experience in canine and feline handling
- Familiarity with animal husbandry practices
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a veterinary technician program preferred
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician is a plus
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital is required
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
