The INEOS Joliet facility was originally constructed by Amoco starting in 1957. At our ~775-acre site in Channahon township, (about 40 miles southwest of Chicago) we produce three products - Purified Isophthalic Acid (PIA), Trimellitic Anhydride (TMA) and Maleic Anhydride (MAN). The proprietary technologies used by INEOS Joliet were originally developed by Amoco at the site.


This role will develop, lead, and manage the procurement process for all utilities, chemicals, and catalysts for the INEOS Joliet facility.


The job holder will be responsible for sourcing all chemicals, catalysts, and energy utilities for the site. Core objectives include assessing & cost effectively mitigating supply risks, developing, and maintaining account relationships, vetting alternatives, and successfully negotiating contracts that lead to reduced costs.



The role covers the INEOS Joliet Chemicals business which is one of the Enterprises Business Units. This requires the job holder to work as part of a commercial team which manages all aspects of customer service, sales, planning, and procurement to support both the production site based in Joliet, IL and the procurement operations across the globe.


The job holder manages a number of suppliers that deliver a wide range of materials and services to the Joliet facility and the wider business. They will need to maintain a wide contact base and carefully prioritize workload to ensure that contracts are always negotiated and contracted in a timely fashion to meet the needs of the business.


They will be expected to contribute to the overall objectives of the business by delivering cost savings and operational improvements via the development and execution of tenders and implementation of robust contracts. All activities performed within the role must ensure that safety, quality and legality is not compromised from both an INEOS and supplier perspective. The job holder must also ensure that the actions which they undertake are compliant with INEOS Enterprises procurement processes and authorization levels (DOA).


Internally, the job holder will be required to independently lead and work alongside the end users of procurement activities across a range of functions - supply chain, plant operations, and marketing. This network will need to span the Joliet facility as well as engaging other INEOS facilities to improve the competitiveness of the Joliet site as well as INEOS as a whole.


The individual will be required to deliver the business commercial strategies while balancing the operational needs of the production units. The job holder will be responsible for communicating procurement strategies across the differing organizational levels within the business.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in a purchasing role involving chemicals, catalysts, and or utilities within a manufacturing environment.
  • Track record of delivering savings through identifying opportunities and supplier negotiation through to completion.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and draft contracts.
  • Ability to draft and execute tenders.
  • Procurement/supply chain qualification desirable.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, science, business, or a similar degree.
