Reporting into the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor (3rd shift) will be based out of our Ashtabula, OH site and will be responsible for supervising a production workforce to ensure the safety, quality, and productivity of the workforce to meet customer demands and requirements. Responsibilities include directing and coordinating activities of workers engaged in the production and packaging of products, executing priorities as directed by the business, and ensuring proper communication is distributed within and between shifts. in-process adjustments to production batches; the evaluation of incoming raw materials; any duties that support these activities and inform and promote a perspective and attitude of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that employee concerns are addressed in a timely fashion. Promptly reports to his/her supervisor any inappropriate workplace behaviors.
  • Reviews schedules to ensure manufacturing can meet customer commitments and drives on-time shipping by adhering to daily production schedules and prioritization sheets.
  • Drives established plant metrics in the areas of safety, housekeeping, quality, service, productivity and cost control.
  • Organize work assigned to meet daily operational goals.
  • Models and promotes teamwork within his/her shift, with his/her peers in Manufacturing and with other working groups within the organization.
  • Direct routine housekeeping activities to maintain desired appearance and safety standards.
  • Verify personnel are at work on time, properly attired and in condition for work.
  • Participate in and/or closely monitor the on-the-job training of new or newly assigned employees. In conjunction with the Manufacturing Plant Manager and Production Manager develop training plans for all employees and communicate them to each employee at least annually. Report on progress as requested.
  • Participate in seminars, training programs, workshops and conferences to develop, broaden and strengthen supervisory skills.
  • Make known to the Manufacturing Plant Manager and Production Manager areas of conflict or lack of clarity, the need for recognition or formal disciplinary actions, and other employee successes and problems.
  • Provides for and actively assists employees in maintaining a safe work environment by ensuring compliance to safety rules and regulations, scheduling weekly safety meetings, completion of required safety training sessions for him/herself as well as employees, timely resolution of safety issues, completion of HS &E Incident Reports and other objectives, as assigned.
  • Exercises mature judgment when dealing with processing problems, crisis, the public, visitors, compliance officers or law enforcement personnel. It is expected the incumbent will seek out help and guidance whenever a situation places them in a difficult position.
  • Collaborates with Company personnel, including other Production Supervisors, to deliver and improve on-time in full (OTIF) delivery.
  • Maintain skills and knowledge of production processes to operate equipment as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.


Requirements
  • A minimum of a high school degree, AS or BA/BS degree
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong Computer Skills Knowledge of inventory systems, quality systems, OSHA & EPA requirements, and ERP
