Job Details

Under general supervision of the designated Team Leader and/or Manager, follows established policies and procedures, gathers and records all necessary information in the process of financially clearing a patient and generating a hospital account for admission as a direct admit or hospital transfer. Responsible for verifying demographic, confidential clinical and financial information necessary to accurately and efficiently register, and execute insurance verifications, notifications, authorizations, pre-certifications, et al, to support claim processing and reimbursement for scheduled and unscheduled hospital services. Adheres to all CMS, JCAHO, HIPAA, Florida Statutes, and EMTALA requirements. Able to identify, explain, and follow up on regulatory forms that require patient signatures. Works directly with nurses, medical staff, ancillary departments, insurance carriers, care management/utilization, HIMS, scheduling, and other external professionals to assist patients with obtaining health care and financial services. May also be responsible for appropriate bed assignment for all patients based on clinical and floor/unit profiles throughout the hospital at all levels of acuity. Other duties as assigned. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

* High School Diploma or GED Required. Higher Level Degree (Associates or Bachelors) or Certification Preferred.

* Minimum of (3) three years of experience working with insurance/managed care companies to obtain eligibility, benefits, and treatment authorization, registration experience AND an approved medical terminology certification or med term course completion
