Adjuvant Innovation & Business Development AnalystThis role can be remote (virtual) and include travel to our innovation facility in River Falls, WI at 25% travel or can be located in River Falls, WI and include 10-15% travel.

The Adjuvant Innovation and Business Development manager will provide vital leadership and expertise, enabling us to reach our goals of generating 1% of topline sales and 6% of gross margin from new, innovative products, and ultimately growing Winfield United to a $10BN company.

Adjuvants are companion products that are used with crop protection chemicals to enable growers to farm more effectively and sustainably and are a key margin driver for our retail Owners and Winfield United.

This individual will direct the process for discovery and the initial stages of evaluating candidates for the adjuvant portfolio. Develop research methodology for efficient evaluation of adjuvants. Ensure smooth handoff of new projects from the Discovery phase to the commercialization phase.

Provide expert project management on other innovative projects in the Discovery phase in adjacent subject areas, including bio-pesticides, sustainability, alternative weed control methods such as robotics and automation.

**Product and Technology Discovery Adjuvants - 50%**

Direct the process for discovery and the initial stages of evaluating novel adjuvants. Develop research methodology for efficient evaluation of these product candidates. Ensure smooth integration of new projects from the Discovery phase into the stage-gate process and handoff to research managers and marketers for further development and ultimately commercial launch.

Work closely and coordinate efforts with marketing managers in the adjuvants, herbicide, insecticide, and fungicide lines of business to attract and find new adjuvant products and technologies from various sources including industry suppliers, partners and others. Work with the Services and Connections marketing team to ensure that new adjuvants are considered in their offers.

Direct research managers and related staff in efforts that support adjuvant early-stage development including:

* Collaborating and communicating with multiple functional teams, including marketing, research managers, sales, crop protection product managers, procurement, legal, etc

* Sourcing data and allocating resources for internal and external laboratory, greenhouse, and field research

**Project Management:** Prioritizing projects and planning efficient workflow **30%**

Serve as an expert project manager on Discovery projects relating to adjuvants, bio-pesticides, sustainability, novel weed control methods, and services offerings, as assigned. Hand off projects at advanced pilot stage to product development or marketing teams, as appropriate.

Manage the Adjuvant SharePoint site. Represent adjuvant and adjacent projects in the Plan2Win project prioritization process at project initiation and in monthly meetings. Present new projects at the Gate 0 stage-gate review.

Meet regularly with internal stakeholders adjuvant and related product development, Fee-for-Service implementation, and product commercialization, as needed.

**Professional Relationships & Thought Leadership - 20%**

Serve as a key contact for suppliers, industry partners, Universities, and governmental agencies in the areas of adjuvants, biopesticides, and relevant Winfield products and programs.

Pursue new opportunities in the adjuvant and adjacent product spaces by serving as a subject matter expert in the space, monitoring trends, attending professional activities and associations, identifying leads, building relationships.

Provide data, insights, and training on products to internal audiences including Research Managers, Crop Protection Product Managers, Market Development Specialists, Field Services, and sales staff.

Interact with customers and sales staff to learn about end-user needs and opportunities for innovation through internal events, market research projects, and one-on-one conversations.

Coordinate quarterly meetings with the Adjuvant Advocacy Team to brainstorm new ideas, review data and current projects, and update innovation platforms.

**Job Scope:** *Budget, Revenue, Direct Reports, Sales Volume, etc.*

* Position responsible for supporting diverse groups within Winfield Solutions. Currently, no direct reports.

* Travel 10-15%

**Required Qualifications:**

*Experience and Education*

* Masters degree in agronomy, plant biology, chemistry, agricultural engineering, or closely aligned field with 3+ years experience in agricultural research and development in those areas; or Bachelors degree with 5+ years related experience.

* Extensive knowledge in managing and research and developing appropriate data and support materials. Ability to evaluate statistics and research methodology to improve processes and meet quality standards. Substantial knowledge of business and technical aspects of the product areas and technology is required.

* Strong understanding of business case development, financial modeling, levers that drive a P&L, and understanding of marketing principles.

* Experience working with or exposure to industry, university and government groups on relevant issues.

* Creative problem solver who can provide leadership, vision, and innovation.

* Must be able to work within a cross functional group setting with significant collaboration. Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and influence without direct authority.

*Salary will be based on experience $97,120-145,680*
