Steak 'n Shake is hiring immediately for a Restaurant General Manager to join their team.

The General Manager is accountable for leading the entire management team to deliver world class food and world class service to every single guest, every single time. The General Manager role is to Coach, Train, and

Inspire all associates to adhere to Stenco Restaurant Inc and Steak N Shake standards. The position has the

responsibility of running a successful and profitable restaurant by understanding hospitality, labor, and food

cost. This role manages and oversees the performance of the management team by identifying opportunities

for development and coaching for improvement. The General Manager will partner directly with his/her District Manager and Director of Operations as well as HR and Franchisee to meet the business strategic objectives of the organization. The General Manager will be held accountable for direct operational and financial standards.

Restaurant General Manager Role and Responsibilities:

  • Full Time Position
  • Able to work 45 hours per week
  • Reports to Above Store Leadership Team
  • Creates a positive environment by developing, focusing, and maintaining the strongest management team
  • Responsible for operational excellence through sales and guest satisfaction
  • Manages all restaurant costs to deliver positive cash flow
  • Delivers best in class food and service standards by monitoring food quality and accuracy
  • Responsible for scheduling and conducting management meetings
  • Responsible for optimal restaurant experience
  • Ordering/ Receiving
  • Develops and trains management team on Steak N Shake and Stenco Restaurants Inc policies, procedures, and standards
  • Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness of all management and associates
  • Executes 14 point walk and correct deficiencies as they arise
  • Ensure food is properly stored and prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and ensure recipe adherence
  • Maintains strict compliance with healthy and safety standards and procedure that comply with City,
  • County, State and Federal guidelines and laws
  • Demonstrate effective decision making and problem solving
  • Leads by example
  • Ability to Motivate, Train, Coach, and Inspire
  • Ability to be comfortable during all the uncomfortable

Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Two years minimum Restaurant experience
  • Able to work weekends and different shifts
  • Flexible and Adaptable to changing circumstances
  • Strong Coaching, Mentoring, Organizational, Time Management and Motivational Skills
  • Able to perform any task performed by service or production team. Must be certified in all Service and Production stations
  • Driver's License/ Reliable Transportation

Steak 'n Shake was founded in February, 1934 in Normal, Illinois. Gus Belt, Steak 'n Shake's founder, pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milk shakes.

For over 85 years, the company's name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word "steak" stood for STEAKBURGER. The term "shake" stood for hand-dipped MILK SHAKES. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. To prove his point that his burgers were exceptionally prime, he would wheel in a barrel of steaks (including round, sirloin, and T-bones) and grind the meat into burgers right in front of the guests.
