Position Summary:

Participates in the support, design, development, and implementation of assigned healthcare applications. Defines and implements user-driven system enhancements/modifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the design, implementation, and maintenance of system applications.
  • Performs administration of the EMR platform, including setting up users and roles, and configuration.
  • Assists with medical imaging workflow, including administering DICOM, troubleshooting issues, and unblocking image transfers.
  • Uses knowledge of present and planned applications installed or to be installed, has expertise in healthcare applications.
  • Applies technical expertise in file/screen building, report writing and maintaining master files, profiles, and forms.
  • Develops specification to support the design of new or modified applications.
  • Serves as a liaison with user departments in design, implementation, and modification of applications.
  • Analyzes the current environment s system policies in order to meet Information Services and user expectations.
  • Participates in troubleshooting application problems.
  • Uses standard problem management methodologies.
  • Reviews software problems, analyzes issues and develops potential solutions.
  • Documents all software problems, solutions, and outcomes for future reference.
  • Prepares user defined custom reports.
  • Reviews and evaluates user requests/needs and implements necessary/appropriate changes.
  • Documents all programming requests and follows established programming standards.
  • Implements vendor system enhancements and custom programs.
  • Follows established program change control methodologies for all clinical systems, modification, and maintenance projects.
  • Tests updated systems to ensure quality assurance standards have been met.
  • Administers support programs for all facility/function-wide applications.
  • Ensure the proper tools are in place for departmental areas to function properly.
  • May develop training materials and conduct training sessions for assigned system applications, as necessary.
  • Complies with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge with Varian Aria preferred.
  • Knowledge with Allscripts Touchworks EMR preferred.
  • Medical imaging/ DICOM, Syngo, VNA, load and processing experience required.
  • Knowledge of HL7, ADT, MDM, SIUS and PDFs required.
  • Interface knowledge required.
  • Flexibility and technical experience to be able to customize solutions.
  • Radiation oncology experience preferred.

The salary range and/or hourly rate displayed is a determination of base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
