The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. **Optical Assembler Manufacturing 2nd & 3rd Shift**

Corning Fairport needs bright, curious, technically inclined manufacturing technicians to help us expand our operations here in the Rochester area! Products manufactured at our state-of-the-art facility help make everyday computer and mobile consumer products possible by providing innovative solutions and manufacturing systems to the semiconductor industry.

**Hours of Work:**

* Monday Friday 2nd & 3rd shift + OT

**Experience & Education:**

* Experience in optics manufacturing a plus

* Experience working in a cleanroom environment a plus

* High school education; Associates or Bachelors in a STEM field a plus

**Work Environment:**

* Indoor, climate-controlled work environment

* Various clean rooms require the use of PPE and gowning

**Purpose of Position:**

* Perform precision alignment, assembly, and testing of optical components and assemblies

* Perform system-level testing of assemblies for image quality (MTF, stray light, transmission, distortion, and other optical parameters)

* Set-up, calibrate, align, and operate metrology equipment

**Day to Day Responsibilities:**

* Follow standard operating procedures, in a clean room environment, to assemble optical components

* Successfully interpret work orders, engineering drawings, and work instructions to guide assembly

* Use a variety of hand tools, precision measuring devices and other specialized equipment including vacuum equipment, digital indicators, torque wrenches, optical microscopes, height gages, Vernier gages, micrometers, and electronic testing fixtures

* Perform system-level testing of assemblies for image quality (MTF, stray light, transmission, distortion, and other optical parameters)
