JOB SUMMARY

The Physician shall provide Public Health Provider, Outpatient Medical Evaluation and Treatment non personal services agreement as a Board Certified or Board Eligible Medical Doctor in a home and community setting. The Indian Health Service Unit is located in Mescalero, New Mexico. The clinic service hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates directly in the medical care of the patients, performing functions to the extent delineated by the medical staff privileging process.
  • Adheres to the scope of work and accepts work assignments from the Clinical Director as necessary.
  • Provides direct care/services to pediatric, geriatric, adolescent, and adult patients: Patient care will involve contact with outpatient COVID patients in the urgent care setting, as well as other potential infectious contacts expectable in a healthcare clinic.
  • Provides comprehensive therapeutic and preventative health services to individual COVID Positive patients,familymembers and patient groups in a home or community-based setting as a primary health resource and physician extender. Service to include guidance in monitoring oxygen levels, adherence to medication regimen, monitoring of oval COVID symptoms. Services also include Emergency medical treatment.
  • Assesses and diagnoses needs to produce a plan of action to meet identified needs by providing medical health services to individual and families, and interpretations of x-ray imaging results and laboratory test results and findings.
  • Applies Medical Doctor skills in all phases of health care services.
  • Assists with community outreach activity in the local area.
  • Makes decisions concerning medical care needs of patients with physicians and designated consultants.
  • Provides lifesaving and support measures in emergency situations.
  • Works with appropriate staff, outer agencies and accepting facilities to medically stabilize and coordinate appropriate urgent and emergent transfers to facilities with a higher level of care.
  • Provides thorough and concise written documentation of evaluations, treatment, active orders, medications and referrals through the Electronic Health Record in a timely manner in accordance to the MSU HIM Internal Control policy. Record keeping, release of information and patient confidentiality follow HIPPA Guidelines.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance/Risk Management activities of the hospital and peer review functions.
  • Utilizes knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) technique, usage and disposal for infectious control purposes.
  • Adheres to guidelines as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient care records
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Medical License (Required) - Must maintain and prove active license as a Medical Doctor in this state or any other state of the United States of America throughout the duration of this contract.
  • Must possess and maintain Board Certification or be Board Eligible.
  • Must submit current immunizations as required by the MSU immunization policy.
  • Able to provide documents to complete security procedures to include fingerprint cards.
SCHEDULE
  • 8-hour day shift, Monday to Friday (No nights / No weekends)
