Job Description

The position consists of specializing in the lifting and moving of extremely large or heavy objects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates the activity with craft workers to ensure that work is done safely, correctly and in a timely manner
  • Use knowledge and understanding of the technical installation requirements for the work under his/her supervision, to include drawings, specifications, procedures, and codes
  • Follows direction from supervisor
  • Must have experience in rigging
  • Must be able to obtain Zachry ETS signaling certification.
  • Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved
  • Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps
  • Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook
  • Gives direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material
  • Inspect and repair all components of boiler systems and associated mechanical equipment
  • Follow direction from Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Must have experience using industrial hand tools and power tools
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Organization and time management
  • Must have good problem-solving abilities
  • Must have good aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Good reading comprehension
  • Ability to work with others - team player including good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors
  • Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations
  • Must have knowledge of crane signals, operating a torch, and operate a plasma cutter

Valued but not required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  • Former Zachry employee
  • Formal education/degree/certificate in construction, technical or trade school such as NCCER Certification or NCCCO in rigging.

Physical Requirements
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
