**Recovery House Assistant Manager**

Bangor, Maine The Recovery House Assistant Manager will provide oversight and guidance to the Opportunity House as well as assisting the Recovery Home Senior Manager while overseeing the recovery residence located at Essex Street in Bangor. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with leadership skills and a passion for helping others recover from a substance use disorder. The Recovery House Assistant Manager is a full-time, live-in peer professional with the responsibility of assisting and coordinating the Recovery Residence. This includes duties related to administration, housekeeping, and daily living. This position works directly with men in early recovery, providing structure and support to men seeking to establish stable long-term recovery from a substance use disorder. The Recovery House Assistant Manager works with men seeking recovery from the time they apply for entry into the program-to-program completion, or transition to housing in the community. In addition, this position will be responsible for working with all other house managers to ensure appropriate supervision, programming, and recovery supports for all locations.

Candidates for this position must be able to maintain organized records, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and be able to interact appropriately and professionally with men who are working on their recovery. Candidates must also be able to effectively handle emergency/crisis situations as they arise. As this is a peer led position and the individual should either have a peer recovery specialist credential or earn one shortly after hire, it is assumed that the person who will fill this role will be in recovery from substance use.

Responsibilities may include:

* Provide and assist in supervision of Opportunity House Managers and serve as the House Assistant Manager for the Essex Street property

* Provide oversight over the other opportunity house managers to include supervision when the Senior Manager is out.

* Coordinate and assist in scheduling of program outreach to be held by division managers and staff to include raised garden beds, tobacco growing, and other supported activities

* Intentional Peer Support Specialist (IPSS) will be available for peers to act as role models, who share personal strengths/skills and inspire hope that recovery is possible for everyone.

* Encourage others to take personal responsibility for their own wellness and recovery.

* Maintain a positive and professional attitude, while treating all peers with dignity and respect.

* Coordinate peer social/cultural/recreational activities.

* Coordinate peer recovery-based groups.

* Support with educational and employment goals.

* Assist Senior House Manager with drop-in supportive environment: Coffee, snacks and fellowship time.

* Support during crisis episodes/collaboration with team to promote stabilization in least restrictive environment.

* Health promotion, system navigation and education.

* Assist and help coordinate activities that promote healthy lifestyles, self- monitoring, effective management and foster holistic recovery substance abuse prevention, recovery, obesity, and smoking

* Maintain recovery to ensure appropriate modelling for those in the recovery home

Requirements:

* Has a high school Diploma, GED, or willingness to obtain GED

* Must have 2 or more years of sustained recovery from a substance use disorder

* Must have or be willing to obtain within 12 months of hire, Certified Intentional Peer Recovery Specialist designation.

* Must complete training and maintain certifications for Basic First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Intervention and drug testing procedures.

* Must be able to live in a shared living situation with other men. Requires maintaining a visible presence in the Recovery Residence, including being present in the residence at night.

* Must have minor house maintenance/repair skills.

* Experience working with indigenous populations

* Basic computer and keyboarding skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel)

* Knowledge of community resources.
