DEFINITION: The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to conduct routine facilities and grounds maintenance and general custodial duties within the Parks and Recreation division.
This job/class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all-inclusive): Sweeps, mops, buffs, and waxes floors; cleans mirrors, light switches, sinks, commodes, and other fixtures; cleans, disinfects, and stocks restrooms; removes trash and recyclables; replaces container liners; washes windows and other glass surfaces, and dust. Prepares and submits various records and reports such as daily logs and time sheets; interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other City personnel, vendors, and the general public. Conducts general building and grounds maintenance and duties including: replaces light bulbs, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, moves furniture, paints interior rooms and structures, picks up trash, maintains sprinklers, sweeps outside walk areas, and cleans bathrooms. Conducts security and safety checks of buildings, including doors, alarms, fire extinguishers, lights and equipment; takes corrective actions as necessary. Maintains inventory of maintenance and custodial supplies; requests orders for supplies as needed. Stores, mixes and uses various chemicals for cleaning tasks; keeps supply closets neat and orderly; picks up, receives and/or delivers supplies, materials and equipment.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Assists building maintenance workers and contractors as needed. Sets up for meetings; returns equipment to storage after meetings; assists with special events including events taking place outside normally scheduled working hours. Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. Requires three months experience in facility maintenance, janitorial work or closely related experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Requires a driver's license valid in the State of Florida. Position is subject to being "on call" and working after normal City work hours as well as on weekends and holidays.
