Description

GSI Environmental Inc. (GSI) has an immediate opening for a Mid-Level Environmental Technician in its Missoula, Montana office. This individual will work under the direction of scientists and/or engineers on various field and desktop projects. Job tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Collecting water, soil and air samples and other testing data (e.g., portable instrument measurements);
    • Groundwater monitoring/sampling, well development, soil sampling, contractor oversight during remedial excavation projects, soil vapor sampling, remediation system operations and maintenance.
  • Record-keeping associated with all field activities, laboratory chain-of-custodies, and billing forms;
  • Mobilizing and demobilizing equipment for field programs;
  • Maintaining and repairing field equipment to ensure safety and reliability; and
  • Data entry and data quality review.

Tasks may require moderate to heavy manual labor, including the ability to 1) lift/move heavy equipment; 2) perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in remote locations; and 3) bend, stoop repetitively, carry up to 25 pounds for a distance of 100 yards, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Regular travel to project sites throughout the US will be required.

Required qualifications include:
  • High school diploma or GED (associate's degree is a plus);
  • Valid Driver's License with safe driving record;
  • Commitment to safe work ethic with excellent health and safety record;
  • Basic mechanical abilities;
  • Customer-focused work ethic with great attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel is required; and
  • Completion of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training will be required.

Position is dependent upon passing a physical exam demonstrating the individual's ability to wear a respirator while working and the individual's willingness to remove facial hair if required to be fitted with a respirator.
