Why this role is important:

    • The ideal candidate has purchasing or supply chain experience within the Aerospace /Defense or Telecom industries.
    • You have experience in purchasing Electronic Components, PCBs, PCBAs, Custom fabricated metalwork and manufacturing machinery.
    • You will be responsible for implementing procurement strategies that are both efficient and cost effective, and you will have an understanding of Engineering drawings, PCB manufacturing files, and Bills of Materials.
    • You should have a strong ability to negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers and you will be instrumental in managing lead times within a diverse supply network.
    • The role also involves planning activity, controlling stock levels and the use SAP to meet project requirements.
    • You have the ability to write processes and procedures.
    • You will have Excellent communication skills, ability to plan and prioritize your workload, with the ability to focus on detail.
    • This position will report to the Production & Quality Manager, and you will work closely with Manufacturing and Design Teams. The successful candidate will work from our offices in Saratoga, CA.

What you'll be doing:
    • Use of SAP MRP system to generate purchase orders and stock control.
    • Ability to successfully negotiate with suppliers of products, materials and services to achieve cost savings and/or mitigate price increases.
    • Expediting purchase orders and deliveries to ensure on time availability of components and products.
    • Receiving / booking in goods of completed orders & deliveries.
    • Goods return of any products or components not to specification.
    • Arrange and attend weekly Open Orders (OPOR) meeting with Suppliers.
    • Managing inventory levels and ensuring accuracy without affecting production, including annual inventory count.
    • Managing the performance and relationships with our suppliers.
    • Monitor supplier KPIs (OTD, OTIF) and strive to make improvements.
    • Work alongside our Design and Manufacturing teams to understand Purchasing requirements.
    • Prototype kit checking.
    • Maintenance of End-of-life (EOL) / Product Change Notices (PCN) / Material Declarations of parts within the SAP MRP system.
    • Support in the selection and auditing of suppliers.
    • Any other duties commensurate with the role, as may reasonably be requested by the line manager.

    • High School Graduate
    • CIPS Qualification
    • 3-5 years purchasing or supply chain experience within the Aerospace /Defense or Telecom industries.
    • Knowledge of MRP systems
    • Knowledge in planning / purchasing.
    • Knowledge / understanding of electronic components, PCBs, Bills of Materials and Engineering drawings.
    • Some understanding of manufacturing techniques
    • Knowledge of Auditing suppliers.

    • College degree
    • CIPS level 4 or higher Qualification
    • 10+ years purchasing or supply chain experience within the Aerospace /Defense or Telecom industries.
    • Experience of SAP BusinessOne MRP system for production planning / purchasing / shipping
    • Experience in a planning / purchasing role.
    • General appreciation of electronic components, Fabrication Drawings and PCBs.
    • Experienced in Auditing suppliers.
    • Experienced in negotiating contracts.


$50,000 - $120,000 a year

The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position in question, which is based on market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on location, skills and expertise, depth of relevant experience, and other relevant factors.
