Summary

The Dispatcher is primarily responsible for monitoring and operating the College's telecommunications equipment, building systems and alarms, and conveying necessary information to provide for a safe and secure campus environment. This is a part-time position.

Essential Functions

  1. Operate Campus Police Dispatch Center.
  2. Relay calls for service to officers, to Facilities Services personnel and other agencies. Operate campus switchboard making proper connections, referrals and transfers of calls.
  3. Monitor and operate Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) as authorized.
  4. Maintain, distribute and file reports and items for Lost and Found.
  5. Contact proper agencies, officials and personnel as required during emergency situations.
  6. Observe weather monitor and LEADS terminal and report weather conditions as necessary.
  7. Monitor fire alarm systems and report information to appropriate personnel. Monitor campus security alarms and remote access systems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  8. Maintain, distribute and file records, reports and tickets as assigned.
  9. Distribute and log school vehicle folders.
  10. Perform routine typing and clerical work as assigned.
  11. Work varied and flexible shifts, hours, days off and locations, as assigned, to provide 24-hour service.
  12. Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Experience working in an office, customer service or call center environment.
  3. Completion of Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) certification upon hire.
  4. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Strong typing skills, including the ability to type 40 words per minute.
  6. Strong computer and technical skills.
  7. Strong data entry and organizational skills.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Current or prior LEADS certification.
  2. Experience working in dispatch, telecommunications or related field.
  3. Experience monitoring and operations of building systems.
  4. Experience with the principles and practices of a communications center.
  5. Experience with campus security policies, practices and procedures.
