We are looking for a Operations Area Manager (Facilitator) to join Kaiser Aluminum Operations in Spokane Washington!


The Operations Area Manager (Facilitator) is responsible for manpower scheduling, daily and weekly operational planning, to meet the operational needs of the business and on-time delivery requirements, while promoting and creating a safe culture.

  • Salary range $95,000-$125,000 per year base

What you will work on:

  • Provide leadership for all production Supervisors within department to ensure goals (TTIs/KPIs) are met, including but not limited to, safety, environmental, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives.
  • Set direction and drive accountability for department Supervisors on production schedules, staffing, and quality needs, while achieving customer on-time delivery requirements.
  • Ensure key constraints are managed and properly staffed.
  • Participate in coordinating maintenance outages and communicate schedules and impact accordingly.
  • Maintain day-to-day compliance and adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely completion of all required training, audits, observations, and preventative maintenance (PMs) for the department.
  • Responsible for timely completion of department safety, quality, and production reports.
  • Manage short-term challenges and devise plans to mitigate impact.
  • Help set the strategic direction within the department and participate in planning actions to achieve the long-term vision.
  • Help drive/lead departmental continuous improvement projects.
  • Escalate and inform department Manager of all significant developments regarding the operation.
  • Ability to cover department Manager responsibilities when needed.
  • Responsible for other department specific responsibilities.


What you will bring to the position:

  • Four-year degree required. Preferably in a technical field. Candidates without a technical degree will be considered with previous industrial/manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years of combined supervisory experience (industrial, manufacturing and/or military preferred); progressive leadership experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability in coaching, motivating, training, recognizing, and communicating objectives.
  • Proven ability to work, motivate and manage teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and flexibility to re-prioritize tasks as needed.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing software.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Management knowledge is preferred.
  • Knowledge of metal industry and associated business processes are highly preferred.
