Production Worker 2

General

Performs various types of routine, unskilled sorting of production product and hand packaging on production lines that combines the work of Sorter and Production Worker.

Works under the direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor assigned to the sorting operation or the packaging operation on production lines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Sorts various kinds of fruit at the Blenders, Pitters, Cut Fruit, and Production Lines, discarding blemished fruit and debris from the acceptable product.
  2. Folds and forms packaging cases to be used on the production line, making sure that the proper case is being used for the product being packed.
  3. Packs cases with product being sure to use the specified packing pattern and that the correct amount of the product is being packed.
  4. Performs routine quality assurance checks of packaged product to be sure of count, sealed packages and proper fruit. Also, checks for debris and any unwanted or discarded items in the pack.
  5. Cleans work area by picking up discarded items from the floor and keeping the particular work area clean of discarded fruit, packaging material and any other unwanted or discarded items.
  6. Ensures safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area by observation and actions. Informs supervisor of conditions and practices in the area.
  7. Performs all the work of a Production Worker II, as required or assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from high school not required, but desired
  2. Experience not necessary, but desired.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate verbally and in writing.
  2. Ability to continually work at a moving conveyor belt.
  3. Ability to continually work as a team member on a moving packaging line, keeping up with the flow of the production being packed in cases.
  4. Ability to work overtime if required.


TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

May in the daily operation of Production Worker II, use broom and dust pan for cleaning left over debris, fruit, packaging materials, or any other unwanted items from the work area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to wear ear protection and a bump cap. If sorting, the employee is required to wear rubber gloves.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers in simple grasping motion of picking our damaged fruit, unwanted debris, forming/handling cases and packaged goods. While doing production work on production lines, the employee is constantly required to stand and/or walk. If sorting, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stand and bend at the waist. The employee is required to lift weights up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include continually watching and adjusting focus at close range while working at a moving conveyor belt and watching and adjusting focus to assure a proper package count.

Utility Person

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction of a manager/supervisor or production line leader, performs various types of routine and unskilled tasks on production lines.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Fills, stacks, moves or handles materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently or continuously. Must be able to use arms, hands or feet to grip, hold, push or manipulate various objects, fruit, controls, or equipment. Must repeatedly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and periodically lift and or manipulate with assistance 150 pounds.
  2. Maintains correct product and material availability to line operations.
  3. Loads and unloads product as necessary.
  4. Properly marks product or materials as directed.
  5. Performs routine general clean-up maintenance work.
  6. Collects and empties trash and litter.
  7. Performs routine general building maintenance work including Janitorial, surface preparation, painting and work involved in maintaining buildings.
  8. Performs various light maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, replacing light bulbs, opening drain lines, checking power panels (on/off only), and inspecting electrical outlets for damage.
  9. Perform the duties of office housekeeping when required; clean windows, door frames and walls; clean and service assigned areas.
  10. Notifies supervisor of substandard assembly defective parts, tools, equipment, and material or other conditions which inhibit or detract from production performance.
  11. Must be able to work overtime if required.
  12. Keeps work area clean and orderly using common cleaning equipment.
  13. Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area.
  14. Performs other duties relating to the overall effort as directed.


SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate.
  2. Must be able to work in adverse working conditions to include but not necessarily limited to those environmental conditions to which the employee may be exposed while undertaking the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. In this position the employee is periodically exposed to wet or humid conditions; fumes or dust; tight or confined spaces; shaking and or vibrating equipment. The noise level requires the use of ear protection. The employee must be able to work in difficult ambient temperatures.
