******About the role:******

The Merchandise Allocator at Southern Tide supports the Direct-to-Consumer Buyer in meeting business objectives. The role primarily assists the Buyer in managing inventory across distribution channels, ensuring the right amount of product is in the right place at the right time to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The Allocator also partners with cross-functional teams to build and distribute product assortments that support the brand vision in stores and online, driving growth in DTC business.

**Crew Position:**

* Understand the overall concept of Southern Tide, including the lifestyle, customer, merchandise, and positioning in the marketplace to drive company sales.

* Create, update, and maintain direct to consumer purchasing and promotional related documents (e.g., planning/allocation tools, purchase orders, custom product requests, RAs, transfers, markdowns, POS promo codes, etc.) using various systems.

* Prepare and distribute key weekly/seasonal reports, analyzing and interpreting retail selling information for each channel of business.

* Analyze sales to stock performance by class, category, and style to maximize in-stock positions, providing product inventory and promotional recommendations as needed.

* Manage basic stock replenishment program for the direct channel and generate weekly replenishment allocations from the distribution center based on sales and inventory analysis.

* Maximize sales and inventory turn by generating and maintaining adequate inventory levels based on sales trends by location, regional seasonality, store capacities, minimum presentations for key items/programs, selling curves, product lifecycles, promotional cadence and brand initiatives.

* Optimize inventory and capitalize on demand by identifying opportunities to transfer inventory between channels, from store to store or to ATS for wholesale.

* Build opening assortments for new stores. Monitor receipts being held for new stores to ensure planned inventory levels are being met.

* Recommend changes and/or enhancements to the current procedures and systems for the allocation and replenishment functions.

* Develop solid understanding of the open to buy process.

* Participate in the planning process by influencing the Buyer on assortment decisions by providing historical data and analysis, new store modeling criteria, assisting with volume projections, and acting as the store level expert regarding product needs and opportunities for growth through inventory.

* Maintains open lines of communication with store management to meet individual store inventory needs and assist in the handling of any inventory management issues/projects at the store level.

* Assist in coordination and execution of seasonal product presentations and ad hoc projects as needed.

Know the ropes...

* Bachelors Degree in Merchandising, Business, or related field

* Generally, 2+ years in retail buying or fashion merchandising

* Proficiency in retail math and analytics: comfortable handling and manipulating large data sets

* Strong fundamentals in Microsoft Office and advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (i.e., pivot tables, v-lookups, and macros) with ability to build reports and work with limited systems resources

* Experience in planning or inventory control a plus
