Job Summary

Activity Instructors-Sports Staff assist the Athletic Program Coordinator with running youth sport programs such as soccer, baseball, and basketball. Additionally, there may be opportunities to assist with youth baseball and softball tournaments on weekends during the summer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.

  • Set up equipment and fields for the sport program.
  • Effectively communicate and demonstrate skills to participants and parents.
  • Leads and participates in sport programming while properly demonstrating skills.
  • Reports anything "unusual" or any out of the ordinary issues immediately to the supervisor.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of participants in the programs.
  • Responsible for the cleanup of all equipment used and turning off field lights if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
  • Completion of some high school is required.
  • Certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid preferred.
  • Prior experience working with kids and/or sports desired.
Language Skills
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with participants, City personnel, Department personnel and City residents.
Other Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with children, adults, families, and sports.
  • Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public.
  • Ability to work effectively in cooperation with fellow employees.

  • Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities and differences between characteristics of colors, shapes and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.
  • The employee must exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, occasionally involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, crouching, crawling, kneeling, stooping and or moving up to 50 pounds.
