The Opportunity:

West Liberty University is seeking applications for two part-time Mental Health Student Counselors. This position provides mental health counseling services to students that includes clinical evaluations, documentation and case records through electronic health records, scheduling appointments, crisis intervention, and the collaboration and coordination of care with health services and community resources.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide mental health counseling to all students, including clinical evaluations, documentation, electronic case records, appointment scheduling, crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, coordination with campus health services and community resources, advocating for students when needed with faculty and staff, and conducting mental health and wellness presentations on campus.
  • Additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • A Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology is required.
  • The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
  • Current licensure as a mental health counselor i.e. LGSW, LCSW,LPC or LPCC is required.
  • At least 2 years counseling experience is required.
  • Experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Evidence of continual professional development in the field of concentration is required.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively conduct intake interviews with students.
  • Ability to administer Suicide Risk Assessments.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention and management to students presenting in crisis.
  • Ability to document all services provided in an electronic medical record.
  • Ability to perform consultation, liaison, and outreach activities.
