Job Details
Under immediate supervision, performs responsible semi-skilled work in the operation of motorized equipment; does related work as required.
Operates a front-end loader; operates a back-hoe, trencher tamp and related equipment in the maintenance and construction of storm water systems; operates a heavy storm drain cleaning equipment; operates multi-purpose equipment in laying storm drains; operates some heavy sweepers in cleaning road and streets; services and make minor repairs to equipment; operates a dump truck engaged in sanding and plowing icy streets and roads and in snow removal when not operating medium to heavy equipment, operates alight equipment; as a trainee, operates heavy equipment. When not operating equipment, performs semi-skilled work on the job site; cleans and cares for tools and equipment.
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eleventh grad and considerable experience in the operation of motorized equipment. Ability to operate large Jet Truck. Ability to oversee crew in absents of Crew Leader.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing trucks and related medium construction equipment; general knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation; general knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to the proper operation of varied construction and maintenance equipment; skill and care in the operation of several types of trucks and construction equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; mechanical aptitude; ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment. Knowledge of Stormwater systems with ability to trouble shoot problems and advise the type of repair needed. Able to work 12 hour shifts 7 days a week during ice and snow removal.
Possession of a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial driver's license with a Tanker endorsement.
