Benefits Accounting Specialist

Overview:

The Benefits Accounting Specialist position will focus on general accounting specifically related to company benefits, company stock and payroll. This position will be a part of the accounting team and will work closely with the benefits and payroll team.

Responsibilities include a full financial spectrum and may include the following:

  • Record bi-monthly payroll entries into accounting software
  • Record monthly benefit entries into accounting software
  • Prepare annual manager bonus calculations and related accounting transactions
  • Administer accounting related to ESOP retirement plan distributions
  • Process common stock distributions
  • Administer annual stock purchase
  • Maintain company stock ownership ledger
  • Complete monthly reconciliations for all payroll and benefit general ledger accounts


Requirements:

  • Understanding of basic accounting procedures is required
  • Proficient in excel with a strong ability to research, collect, and export data
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and problem solving skills
  • Be professional in appearance and attitude; contribute to a positive team atmosphere by treating others with respect and consideration while taking pride in being part of a winning team
  • Maintain orderly appearance of personal work space and surrounding areas
  • Perform work efficiently and effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work assigned schedule which is typically Monday through Friday day time hours, but may include some evening or weekend hours as needed
  • Task orientated and can prioritize job duties in order of importance
  • Assist with all other duties assigned

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or associate's degree in an accounting related field and/or equivalent work experience.

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation
