Summary


We are seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our team as Substance Abuse Counselor Interns through our Mentored Internship Program. This internship opportunity serves as an employment pathway into our agency and is designed to provide practical training and hands-on experience in the field of substance abuse counseling. As an intern, you will work closely with our experienced counselors and gain valuable skills and knowledge in assessing, treating, and supporting individuals with substance use disorders. We provide interns with the opportunity to become a registered Substance Use Disorder counselor and gain experience hours towards certification.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist counselors in conducting intake assessments and comprehensive evaluations of clients with substance use disorders.
  • Observe and assist individual counseling sessions under the supervision of a licensed addiction counselor.
  • Observe and assist group counseling sessions, including psychoeducation groups, process groups, and support groups.
  • Observe and assist in family counseling sessions to enhance understanding of the impact of addiction on family dynamics.
  • Attend and actively participate in clinical team meetings and case conferences.
  • Assist with documentation of client progress, interventions, and treatment outcomes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for clients.
  • Stay up-to-date with current research, best practices, and evidence-based treatment approaches in addiction counseling.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of client care.
  • Engage in ongoing supervision and consultation to enhance professional growth and development.
  • Participate in professional development activities and training opportunities as required.
  • Administrative duties as required.


Qualifications:


  • Currently enrolled in a certificate, associate s, bachelor's or master's degree program in SUD counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of addiction counseling theories, modalities, and treatment approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with diverse populations.
  • Compassionate and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and collaborate with other professionals.
  • Willingness to receive supervision and feedback to enhance clinical skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant ethical guidelines and legal requirements in addiction counseling.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.

Salary: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
