**Your role:**
The Painter Tech 1 at MilliporeSigma in Milwaukee, WI is responsible for maintaining and improving all aspects of the exterior and interior of building and structural painting and patching throughout. This is a multi-skilled position that can complete work orders or projects that cross over traditional disciplines.
Typical responsibilities include:
* Exhibiting high standards of quality and professionalism
* Corrective and Preventive Maintenance through painting and coating of equipment, facilities, and structural materials
* Complete assigned work orders and preventative maintenance work orders
* Take directions and perform tasks accurately and with quality
* Provides direction and expertise to others in the department
* Work independently and with a team under various conditions and locations
* Able to work with outside painting / floor coating contractors in getting bids for service or technical advice
* Able to coordinate and manage the work of outside contractors as necessary
* Stay current on new developments in the coating industry
Physical Attributes:
* May wear appropriate protective gear, such as respirators and chemical protective clothing, for long periods of time while performing daily tasks
* May involve occasional lifting and pushing of up to 50 pounds
* May work near moving mechanical parts
**Who you are:**
**Minimum qualifications:**
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent
* 2+ years of commercial or industrial painting experience
**Preferred qualifications:**
* Computer proficiency to include common Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.) and CMMS systems
* Understanding of MSDSs for approved materials, paints, and coatings
* Familiarity with common hazards (e.g. lead paint) and applicable mitigation techniques
* Ability to identify and use various materials, paints/coatings, and tools needed for a repair
* Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills: analyzing alternatives, evaluating risks, reviewing sequence of events
