**Assistant Buyer**
Jersey City, NJ Operations

We're changing the landscape of snacking on nuts, dried fruit, chocolate and more! We planted our roots in Newark, New Jersey during the Great Depression, selling premium nuts on Mulberry Street's open-air market. We've come quite a long way since then, taking our multi-generational family business online in 1999. Even after 90 years, we continue to pride ourselves in expertly sourcing the highest quality foods and treating our customers like family.
**The role:**
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing supplies and replenishment, taking into account price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply. This procurement professional deals with vendors and suppliers on a daily basis, leveraging great organizational and supplier relations skills. They will also be monitoring and negotiating pricing in order to maintain healthy margins.
**What youll do:**
* Help create order and manage products through the entire procure-to-pay life cycle
* Analyze and manage weekly on order reports to ensure goods are shipped on time and inventory is aligned
* Assist the buyers to proactively network with vendors regarding lead times, ordering cycles, availability of merchandise, and pricing
* Demonstrate some fiscal responsibility when negotiating with vendors
* Help on-board new suppliers, while adhering to all food safety and quality requirements
* Responsible for some demand forecasting within assigned categories
* Assist in developing and maintain supply chain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure performance against established targets and benchmarks
* Consistently hit in-stock and overstock targets
* Coordinate inbound freight of both FTL and LTL loads for both local and international shipments
* Identify opportunities in unproductive inventory strategies
* Responsible for ad hoc analysis through multiple platforms
**What youll bring:**
* Bachelor's degree
* 1-2 years relevant experience
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including but not limited to pivot tables, dashboard generation, vlookups, and index/match functions
* Knowledge of Google apps especially Google Sheets and Google Docs
* Previous experience in both buying and planning roles
* Must have highly effective written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with a diverse group of people
* Ability to organize and maintain multiple projects at one time
* Knowledge of Looker software is a plus
* Collaborate well with others
* Must have a strong ability to work independently and exemplify leadership qualities
**This is a full time position based in Jersey City, NJ with mandatory attendance in the office Tuesday-Thursday.
