POSITION SUMMARY

The chemical compounder is responsible for the formulation and production of various chemical compounds. Accurately preparing and formulating chemical compounds used in the production process. In this role you will operate and control chemical compounding equipment, filling batches with correct components, and ensuring that all batches of a given product meet the manufacturing specifications. Work with raw chemicals and ingredients, measuring and mixing them together in precise quantities to achieve the desired product specifications. You will mix materials to create finished products according to the batch sheets. Responsibilities include weighing the correct chemicals and sampling finished products to quality for approval.




ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Mixing and blending of chemicals.
  • Weighing and measuring raw ingredients.
  • Using laboratory apparatus to test the physical and chemical properties of compounds.
  • Recording results and maintaining accurate records.
  • Responsible for repairing equipment, ensuring that the machines comply with all health and safety codes and regulations.
  • Improve the efficiency of the production process.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area.



SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to read and comprehend production instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic chemical and hazard information.
  • Math and measurement skills and the ability to use chemical scanners and other technology for creating and testing compounds.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • 1 year of experience handling chemicals and other raw ingredients and helping to mix them.
  • Able to lift 20 to 30 bags of raw material at a time and move 55-gallon drums into a pump.
  • 1 year of chemical compounding experience.
  • Able to load 40x50lb bags into a hoper.
  • Able to move and pump in 14x400lb drums per batch.
  • Able to work under moderate supervision.



PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) is preferred.
