We are searching for an experienced Adjunct Faculty - BA Elementary Education - EDU345 at our Arapahoe Campus facility.

**FLSA Classification:** Exempt/Salaried

**FTE:** 15% (6 hrs/week)

**Compensation:** Up to $3112.52 based on Naropa experience

**Job Summary**This position teaches the undergraduate level course EDU345 Literacy 1 in the Fall 2022 semester. Applicants should be informed about issues related to diversity and inclusivity and be able to incorporate relevant themes and topics into course content. This is a 3-credit course, scheduled to meet from August 24th - December 16, 2022 on Naropa's Arapahoe Campus in Lincoln Studio on Thursdays 4:30pm - 7:15pm.

**Course Description:**

**Job Duties & Responsibilities**

Teaches with a professional level of preparedness for 3 hours each class for the duration of the 15-week semester. For the Fall 2022 semester, the day and time for this class is Thursdays 4:30pm - 7:15pm. (Syllabus will be provided).

Grades all assignments, provides feedback to students in a timely manner and submits final grades by the deadline established by the Registrar.

Submits grading and attendance data into the Learning Management System (LMS) in a timely manner.

Incorporates contemplative pedagogies into the teaching and learning.

Provides one hour of office hours each week plus availability to students by appointment.

Mentors students outside of class through meetings or email, as needed.

Obtains permission from the copyright owner for any copyrighted material to be used in sourcebooks.

Attends any department faculty meetings during the semester of this teaching assignment, and meets with supervisor as needed.

Completes any and all trainings as required by Human Resources or the Office of Academic Affairs within the time period set for completion by those departments.

Understands and adheres to the policies, procedures, and protocols outlined in the Faculty and Employee Handbooks.

Other duties as assigned.

**What We Require**

Master's degree in Education or equivalent education and experience.

Two or more years of experience teaching literacy in grades K-3 in elementary public schools.

Knowledge of Colorado Department of Education elementary content Standards.

Knowledge of Colorado Department of Education CLD standards for K-12th grade.

Knowledge of culturally responsive methodologies for the development of curriculum and assessment.

High degree of emotional intelligence, critical thinking and assertive communication skills.

Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.

Ability to utilize Canvas platform for assignments (support provided if needed).

Ability to create standards-aligned authentic assessments for the K-12 classroom.

**Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:**Faculty members spend most of their time in their classrooms or in virtual meetings with some time in offices. In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness. As a faculty member, you may spend extended periods in front of students and speaking as well as:

Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.

Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.

Standing or sitting for hours at a time.

Moving around campus for classes and meetings.
