JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Plant Technology Manager to join our growing team.

The Opportunity

As a Plant Technology Manager, you will be responsible for managing, documenting, and executing the install, support and maintenance of the plant s computer-oriented production machinery and software/ hardware applications throughout the plant and office facilities. You will report directly to the Plant Manager.

The position is onsite and will be based in Rantoul, IL.

What You Will Do

  • Basic network troubleshooting and support
  • Office equipment MFP s, phone systems, computers,
  • Writing programs to run reports/downloads for Machinery Progress
  • Running and routing network cables
  • Wireless AP s (AccessPoint) - installing switches
  • Interfacing with Corporate IT team
  • Working with other PTM s, Corporate IT Dept & Manage vendors
  • Maintains existing programmable machinery, in the production process functional and operational, and will manage new or re-tooled machinery involved in the product lines to determine the best processes for manufacturing new and existing products at their respective plants.
  • Provides hands-on technical consultation to assembly employees and works with Continuous Improvement (CI) Teams to improve equipment effectiveness and efficiency, and to identify waste in the manufacturing process (maximum use)
  • Alter, modify and calibrate machinery software and designs to meet quality control requirements and eliminate malfunctions in the manufacturing process.
  • Programs new parts for equipment, as needed, and outsources and/or purchases tooling as required.
  • Provides troubleshooting support for manufacturing and office equipment and identifies process issues during equipment installation and start-up phases; identify root cause and implements corrective actions.
  • Create a team environment for problem solving, and work with plant personnel to develop a system of feedback on the manufacturing process and plant technology issues, and act as the help desk and technical support services plant wide.
  • Perform and manage office and plant software and hardware installations, train personnel, and troubleshoot software and hardware issues as needed.
  • Manage and create system related IT documentation and procedures.
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT/Technology department, including purchasing, budgeting and budget review, and develop requests for proposals as needed.
  • Maintain and develop features related to the software installation pack and/or procedures.
  • Manage and maintain the internal IT Server Infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain hardware and software preventative maintenance programs.
  • Perform facility-wide system auditing procedures.
  • Provide internal training based upon the user request and system knowledge.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or comparable technical studies, and five (5) to ten (10) years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the window and door industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by management.
  • Experience in the IT industry, ideally in software implementation and programming support for both an office and manufacturing environment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and applicable JELD-WEN software and hardware office and machining applications and be able to act as the lead person in installing and maintaining said systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process improvement techniques including CI, SQDCI, TPS, OTD, etc.
  • CNC Machining Experience and Lean manufacturing processes.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May on occasion travel to appropriate seminars and training.
  • C++/VB or similar knowledge preferred.
