Medical Records Technician (Full-Time, 40, Day)


Job Details

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Performs analysis and re-analysis of medical records.

- Processes and maintains records of discharged patients for medical record completion.

- Assists physicians with medical record completion requirements.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Essential: standing, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, repetitive arm/hand motions, frequent gripping of an object,

- Occasional: standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, reaching above, at, and below shoulder.

- Operates computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and other office machine.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Post high school course work and/or demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathology.

- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English both orally and in writing.

- Familiarity ICD-10-CM and CPT4/HCPCS coding preferred.

- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.

B. EXPERIENCE:

- One (1) year related healthcare experience, such as a clerk or unit secretary in a hospital or a dental office.

- Prior experience with use of computerized medical records.

- Prior experience with handling and processing patient medical records.
