Summary

Performs basic care activities essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of residents.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observes resident physical, mental, and emotional status and reports any changes.
  • Reads and follows service plans, attends meetings, and reviews daily reports in the interest of resident care.
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living, such as bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, walking, transferring, and turning.
  • Applies minor first-aid measures such as compresses, ice, and heat as directed by a nurse.
  • Assists with meal service, prepares, or examines food trays for prescribed diet, feeds residents, and records food intake when required.
  • Responds to resident inquiries and directs the appropriate person as needed.
  • Responds promptly and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Assists with Life Enrichment activities as needed.
  • Provides routine updates to other Wellness team members and completes required recordkeeping tasks.
  • May assist with housekeeping duties, including removing garbage, making beds, cleaning apartments, and washing, drying, and putting away laundry.
  • May obtain and record resident vital signs and weight.
  • May collect samples from residents for testing, such as sputum, urine, stool, and/or blood.
  • Practice basic infection control with linens, hand washing, and in all other aspects of delivery of resident care.
  • Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled by the Executive Director.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident, community, employee, and company
  • Maintain working knowledge of fire and disaster plans and responsibilities under emergency conditions.
  • Pass medications as directed by the Director of Nursing (Medication Certificate Required) or agree to get within the first 120 days of employment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
