Position Summary

Completes quality testing of material produced and provides finished test data to production and customers as appropriate. Ensures data information is consistent and accurate for both in process and finished products and ensures products meet or exceed standards and customer requirements. This description covers the significant duties of the job but may not include the occasional assignments which would be within the evaluation of this job.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Huber Sustainability Management Standard requirements, within their sphere of influence. This may include compliance with any air permits, waste water permits, storm water permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as requirements. Responsible for bringing all environmental, health, and safety incidents or concerns to management for resolution.

1. Perform in-process and final testing on products utilizing product specifications and instrument operating procedures.

2. Perform product testing, including, but not limited to: Particle Size Analysis, Free

Moisture, Soluble Soda, Loss of Ignition, Surface Area Analysis, Color Analysis,

Density Analysis, Atomic Absorption Analysis, Screen or Sieve Analysis, etc.

3. Communicate to appropriate production personnel the results of product testing in a

timely manner to ensure a high degree of product quality and integrity.

4. Assist with and perform specialized product/customer testing as necessary.

5. Prepare customer sample requests and shipment paperwork.

6. Perform and ensure that competitive sample analyses are completed in a timely

manner and forwarded as appropriate.

7. Will occasionally be assigned projects in addition to the routine workflow of the lab.

Will be responsible for working on these assigned projects independently. At the

conclusion of the project, will be responsible for a report of results as designated by

the QC Supervisor.

8. Prepare Certificates of Analyses, ensuring that the product complies with customer

specifications.

9. Follow the ISO quality system as required to ensure compliance to the ISO 9001

quality standard.

10. May perform other duties as required.

Major Challenges:

1. Obtaining samples from mill operators and other production personnel in a timely manner.

2. Managing stress level due to performing multiple activities at the request of another

employee or numerous production employees with time limitations on all activities.

3. Communicating with supervisor when working off shift hours.

4. Work without direct supervision. This individual will be the primary tech assigned to a shift

for quality control support of the production process.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

1. Education - A high school diploma or GED is required. Associates degree or some college preferred with science, chemistry, or math background.

2. Able to read and comprehend Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Safety and Health

manuals and procedures, and Quality Control terminology (i.e. units of measure, etc.).

3. Must be able to perform and understand basic mathematical calculations and basic statistics.

4. Must act and work in a safe and healthy manner in both the laboratory and plant

environments. The individual must learn and observe all applicable company policies and safe

practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisors or other members of management.

5. Must have basic knowledge of computers.

6. Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the

organization.

Physical Requirements

Individual works mostly in a climate-controlled laboratory environment. Exposure to chemicals, light, noises and dusts. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as necessary (including but not limited to: safety boots, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, etc). May be required to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended period of time and work in cold or hot environments. This position requires multitasking often at the request of another employee or numerous production employees with time limitations on all activities, which may be stressful at times.
