The DC Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the DC to include championing safety initiatives, coaching direct and indirect reports (50), providing excellent customer service, maintaining accurate inventory and operating within controllable cost vs. budgets.


The DC Operations Manager position requires a proven team player with a passion for customer service, the initiative and drive to successfully lead an operation and its human capital, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment will thrive in this opportunity.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful candidate will have proven experience in the area of distribution, transportation or materials, as well as the ability to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
  • Manages all aspects of the distribution center including safety, facilities, employee staffing, service to customer, inventory management and control, shipping and receiving, returns.
  • Responsible for financial performance and information including weekly flash reports, budgeting and profit/loss statements.
  • Manage and direct day-to-day functions of the distribution center operations
  • Mentor and develop supervisors and staff and build an engaged team member workforce
  • Manage requirements and compliance for supervisors and staff
  • Partner with the sales and customer service organization to ensure the highest levels of customer service.
  • Drive the team to achieve service, accuracy and productivity performance objectives and improvement efforts
  • Support team building and continuous improvement practices within the distribution center
  • Support development requirements and Hazardous Materials/DOT/OSHA compliance for supervisors and staff


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to teach, coach, and train team members to drive change and execute process improvements.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Industry, Operations, and Safety processes, programs, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate in all forums compellingly.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, manage, direct and coordinate the efforts of others either directly or indirectly.
  • A sincere interest in the employees you manage with the desire to assist them in their success via training, meaningful assignments and through regular communication.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years DC General Manager experience.
  • Bachelor Degree in Business or related preferred.
  • Warehouse Management Systems WMS knowledge and experience
  • Warehouse material flow and profiling experience.
  • Experience leading process change and implementation.
  • Experience in a high sku count business and facility operation.
  • Strong attention to detail, great communication skills, the capability to analyze reports and information to improve processes and business outcome.
  • The ability to motivate a dynamic team.
  • Prior experience with sales and customer interaction a plus
