Job Description

We are looking for an energetic groundskeeper to keep our institution's grounds functionally and aesthetically sound. The groundskeeper will maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, stair paths, retaining walls and turf. The groundskeeper will employ insecticides, chemical sprays, fertilizers and mulches to optimize the condition of greenery. You will use hand or power tools, or equipment needed. Keeping grounds free from trash, litter, debris, weeds, plant diseases and harmful insects. You will maintain equipment and supplies.

To be successful in this role you need to ensure grounds are always pleasant both visually and operatively, while maintaining equipment. Top candidates are hard-working, meticulous, and patient.

Groundskeeper Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining site landscaping by mowing lawns and trimming grass around walks, flower bed, trees, and walks.
  • Removes fallen or damaged leaves, branches, and twigs using mowers, tractors and other hand and power tools.
  • Maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, turf, and irrigation.
  • Prune's shrubs and trees, at the direction of the immediate Supervisor, to shape and improve growth.
  • Fertilizing lawn, trees, flowers and shrubs, and spreading mulch.
  • Trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs, and preventing and eliminating weeds.
  • Plants, fertilizes, waters and uses weed and insect control products.
  • Operating and maintaining hand tools such as loppers, saws, and shovels efficiently. May performs routine cleaning of maintenance on grounds equipment.
  • Cleans drainage ditches and culverts, including but not limited to the filling of potholes and the sweeping of accumulated debris along the curb lines.
  • May repairs fences, gates.
  • Operating and maintaining trucks and power tools.
  • Utilizing insecticides, fertilizers, and chemical sprays to treat diseases.
  • Keeping grounds free from trash, litter, and debris, and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Conducting basic irrigation audits and performing basic irrigation repairs.
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
  • Applies to all applicable OSA and related local Safety requirements to assigned work.


Wage Range: $16.30 to $17.25 plus generous benefits
