Job Title: Health and Safety Technician
Location: Point Celeste, LA
Schedule: 100% On-site, Monday to Friday
About the Role:
We're currently seeking a Health and Safety Technician to join our client's team at their Point Celeste facility in Louisiana. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the incumbent will play a crucial role in maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety fundamentals in the field. Key responsibilities include overseeing safety policies and procedures, conducting inspections and audits, and serving as the primary point of contact for all Health & Safety matters on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, standards, and requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of work tasks against company-defined procedures.
- Act as the main point of contact for Health & Safety questions, concerns, and activities in the field.
- Spend extended periods in the field, inspecting working environments and addressing hazards.
- Mentor workers on safety practices to promote a safety-first mentality.
- Assist in compliance reviews, risk assessments, and safety management activities.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and address unsafe acts promptly.
- Report inspection results to HSSE leadership and recommend mitigation measures.
- Participate in incident investigations and support Emergency Response processes.
- Maintain effective housekeeping standards and participate in safety committees.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Degree or certification in Health & Safety Sciences or related field preferred.
- Specific experience in Health & Safety in Commissioning and Startup activities.
- Solid understanding of Permit to Work processes and systems.
- Strong leadership skills demonstrated by at least five years in a similar role.
- Experience in LNG, Petrochemical, or Oil and Gas manufacturing industry preferred.
- OSHA general industry and/or construction certifications required.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards and practices.
- Experience in Industrial operations, natural gas operations, or liquefaction facilities desirable.
- Process Safety Management experience is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA 500, OSHA 510, CSP, CHST, LSP, OHST, ASP, CPR, First Aid, and AED certification advantageous.
- Eligible to work in the US, pass drug tests and background checks, and obtain a TWIC card.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work off shifts and overtime as needed.
