Job Title: Fly Away Kit (FAK) Specialist

Location: Orlando, FL

Department: Materials

Reports To: Senior Manager, AOG & Line Materials

FLSA Status: Exempt


Essential Functions:

  • Maintains accurate records of all Fly Away Kits, including their contents, expiration dates, and locations. Regularly conducts inventory audits to ensure sufficient stock levels and identifies any discrepancies.
  • Coordinates the assembly and packing of FAKs according to established standards and guidelines. Ensures all necessary tools, parts, and equipment are included to support maintenance and servicing tasks during flight layovers.
  • Conducts thorough inspections of FAKs to verify the integrity and functionality of items. Identifies any damaged or expired components and initiates replacement or repair processes as needed.
  • Collaborates with various departments, including Maintenance, Operations, and Procurement, to facilitates the timely delivery and retrieval of FAKs. Coordinates with ground handling teams at different destinations to ensure the availability and readiness of kits upon aircraft arrival.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation related to FAKs, such as packing lists, maintenance records, and usage logs. Generates regular reports on inventory status, kit utilization, and any issues encountered during deployment.
  • Collaborates with maintenance planners, flight dispatchers, and ground handling teams to ensure timely delivery and retrieval of FAKs at various destinations. Coordinates with relevant personnel to prioritize kits based on aircraft types, scheduled maintenance tasks, and operational requirements.
  • Maintains readiness to support unplanned maintenance events or AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations by quickly mobilizing appropriate FAKs and resources to the affected aircraft location. Coordinates with maintenance teams to facilitate rapid repairs and minimize flight disruptions.
  • Adheres to aviation regulations, company policies, and safety protocols governing the handling, storage, and transportation of FAKs. Ensures that all kits are properly secured, labeled, and stored in compliance with hazardous materials regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to optimize FAKs management processes, enhances efficiency, and reduces costs. Solicits feedback from maintenance personnel and other stakeholders to implement improvements in kit contents, packaging, or deployment strategies.
  • Provides training and guidance to maintenance staff and ground personnel on the proper use and handling of FAKs. Offers technical assistance and troubleshooting support to resolve any issues encountered during kit deployment or utilization.
  • Maintains open communication channels with relevant departments, including Maintenance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance, to ensure alignment of FAK management activities with operational needs and strategic objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in aviation management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in inventory management, logistics coordination, or a similar role within the aviation industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory records and documentation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and safety standards in advantageous.

  • Demonstrated ability to read & understand illustrated parts catalogs (IPS).


Hours and Location:

  • Hours, we are 24/7 operation so flexibility to work nights/afternoons/weekends.
  • Location, Orlando, FL Corporate Office. Must be willing to travel.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing. Be willing to work outside and in all types of weather. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
