Job Overview

Davies Claims North America is looking for a Claims Representative I to join our team at Maryland Transit Administration. Reporting to the Liability Claims Supervisor, you will handle base-level property damage claims brought against the MTA.

To be successful in this role, you must display exceptional capability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organization and documentation skills in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and possess superb communication skills, both verbal and written, conducted in a timely manner. You must have at least one year of experience with investigating and settling automobile property damage, bodily injury, and general liability claims. Additionally, you will need to display high level attention to detail and problem-solving skills, as well as exhibit utmost discretion with sensitive and confidential information. This role is a full-time, onsite position based out of Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 150 claim files, some with multiple claimants, pertaining to MTA operations liability
  • Perpetual evaluation of reserves for property damage and/or bodily injury claims with exposures less than $25,000 (subject to change)
  • Investigate claims, issue timely reports, complete thorough diary reviews, manage litigation, and demonstrate excellent organizational skills

Experience and Qualifications

Required
  • One (1) year of experience with investigating and settling automobile property damage, bodily injury, and general liability claims in an office environment
  • High School diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two (2) or more years of experience investigating and settling automobile property damage, bodily injury, and general liability claims
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Superb communication skills, verbal and written, conducted in a timely manner
  • Superior time management skills with capability of working with and meeting deadlines

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is an onsite, full time, salaried, exempt position that predominantly operates from a professional office-based environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk. This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand as necessary.
