Job Summary:

  • We are seeking an EHS Specialist to ensure safety compliance and environmental regulations across three manufacturing plants. This role involves conducting inspections, developing procedures, managing training programs, overseeing safety committees, and ensuring environmental compliance. The position requires interacting with all levels of the organization and managing safety-related activities.


Job Duties:

  • Conduct facility inspections to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develop health and safety procedures and schedule relevant training sessions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety procedures and maintain safety data sheets.
  • Manage on-site Safety Committees and oversee environmental reporting and compliance.
  • Lead emergency response drills, conduct accident investigations, and manage OSHA compliance.
  • Facilitate risk assessment activities and lead Behavior-based Safety initiatives.
  • Assist in purchasing and distribution of personal protective equipment and oversee safety-related equipment inspections.
  • Recommend safety capital expenditure items and budget for safety initiatives.
  • Conduct job safety analysis and recommend improvements in safety processes.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous waste regulations and oversee hazardous waste activities.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training programs and recommend changes to safety processes.
  • Facilitate Safety Committees and partner with Plant Managers and HR on disciplinary actions.
  • Deliver New Employee Safety Training and administer first aid when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 safety standards and EPA regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, inspire, persuade, and coach at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an EHS-related field and at least five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Experience in food manufacturing and GMPs is preferred.
  • Experience with hazard recognition, behavioral-based safety, and process hazard analysis is highly desirable.
  • BS/BA in safety management is preferred.
  • Experience with ammonia and glycol cooling systems is a plus.
